Designed to offer maximum ventilation in hot climates the Northern Tourer was developed by Freedom Tents as a versatile, extended travel touring tent. Manufactured from Bradmill canvas it is ideal for up to four people and can be erected in just one minute. It features a clear PVC cover over the back window. This cover allows extra light even during constant rain, and it can be rolled up to provide increased ventilation. The storm flaps on the side windows have been modified to zip right around to prevent dust entry in-case of a dust storm.
Features:
5 Year Guarantee. We stand by the quality and construction of our tents. We have been manufacturing Freedom Touring Tents since 1971 and all our designs are well proven in the Australian outback.
Made in Australia and New Zealand. Each Freedom Tent is a quality product manufactured to the highest standards.
Bradmill Canvas. Years of experience as Australia's leading manufacturer of tent fabrics have resulted in Bradmill's fabric achieving the ideal balance of efficient waterproofing for the harshest conditions while allowing the fabric to breathe, for your overall comfort. "Bradmill" has a hydrostatic head test result of 400mm (minimum) which is the correct balance to stop the most fierce storm from penetrating the fabric, keeping you safe and dry.)
Waterproof. All Freedom Touring Tents utilise the highest quality materials and construction methods to ensure that they are waterproof.
Spring Loaded Centre Pole. This unique feature allows Freedom Tents to move in unison with the wind. The result is that the buffeting effect of the wind is absorbed within the pole taking the strain off the ground pegs. The spring loaded centre pole ensures that the tent is almost impossible to blow down. (Note: A conventional telescopic pole is rigid once the tent is pitched. Constant buffeting from the wind can result in the corner pegs pulling out of the ground causing the tent to collapse.)
Internal Frame. An optional internal frame is available if freedom of movement is require without the restriction of a centre pole. It is very easy to assemble.
Double Layer Roof. The Northern Tourer utilises a double layer 12oz and 10oz canvas roof. This provides the additional strength and durability required in a touring tent.
Fire Retardant. Nothing is fireproof however Freedom Tents will not sustain a flame by themselves.
Metal Chromed "D" Ring Peg Points. Corrosion resistant "D" ring peg points (rather than "O" ring peg points) are provided to ensure that the weight is evenly distributed across the webbing attachments, thus extending the life of the webbing.
Dual Corner Webbing. The "D" ring peg points are attached to the tent via strong, double webbing loops. These distribute the tension evenly between two distinct pulling lines to prevent seams opening and increase durability. This double loop system also provides a backup loof if one should ever fail.
Heavy YKK Zips. YKK zips have built an enviable reputation for reliability and quality. Freedom Tents feature YKK 10 grade zips on all the doors and windows.
Ultrafine Sandfly-Proof Mesh. Freedom Tents utilise UV stabilised PVC coated ultra-fine fibreglass mesh in the windows and doors. This mesh is fly, mosquito and sandfly proof. Additionally it is fire retardant. If a spark should land on the mesh it may burn the PVC coating off the mesh however the fibreglass will remain intact ensuring that your mesh remains insect proof.
Heavy Duty PVC Floor & Hot Wealded Seams. Freedom Tents feature heavy duty heat welded PVC floors. This feature increases waterproofness as there is no stitching at ground level to leak.
French Seams. All Freedom Tents are manufacture with internally sewn French Seams joining the walls to the floor. This method of construction ensures that water runs freely off the tent and has no areas where it can pool and leak. This method also ensures that there is no flooring material exposed to the elements where it can break down prematurely.
Full Length Zippered Storm Flap on Door. This prevents wind and weather from blowing in under the door flap.
Internal Pocket. Great for locating those easy to lose items such as car keys, glasses, torches etc.
Dual Zip Slides. These are provided on the doors to allow easy access for 12V and 240V power cords for lighting or other electrical items.
Roll-Up Frame. The roof frame in Freedom Tents can be removed to allow rolling the tent into a compact size for easy storage.
